Showing up for your community 2.0

Hi Bibi-lievers,

Forgive us for staying quiet these last couple weeks. A lot is going on in the world and a lot is being said about it. We wanted to take a moment to take it all in. Sometimes it's just better to listen, ya know? But we're here now and want to check in with you.

As a company owned and operated by women, people of color, and children of immigrants, we believe there is no place for hate or discrimination in this world. At Bibi, our mission is to empower you to live a fun, fierce, healthy, and productive life. Sadly, for many of our brothers and sisters, such a life is no longer possible. Please take a moment to acknowledge these people:

George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade,
Botham Jean, Stephon Clark, Jordan Edwards, Alton Sterling,
Philando Castile, Sandra Bland, Freddie Gray, Tamir Rice,
Michael Brown Jr., Eric Garner, Travyon Martin, Aiyana Jones,
and countless others.

Odds are you recognize some of these names and not others. That's understandable. We encourage you to look up those you don't know and familiarize yourself with each person. Knowledge is power and in our current world, this is something everyone deserves to know.

The last Bibi Daily we sent was about "Showing up for your community" in response to COVID=19. Today we're diving deeper into that mission by sharing resources with you on how to support black owned businesses, donate to organizations committed to making a change, and learning how you can personally make an impact:

SUPPORT BLACK OWNED BUSINESSES:
DONATE:
  • The Bail Project The Bail Project is a national nonprofit organization that pays bail for people in need, reuniting families and restoring the presumption of innocence.
  • ACLU The ACLU dares to create a more perfect union — beyond one person, party, or side.
  • Black Lives Matter The official #BlackLivesMatter Global Network builds power to bring justice, healing, and freedom to Black people across the globe.
  • Campaign Zero The comprehensive platform of research-based policy solutions to end police brutality in America.
  • George Floyd Memorial Fund This fund is established to cover funeral and burial expenses, mental and grief counseling, lodging and travel for all court proceedings, and to assist George Floyd’s family in the days, weeks, months… to come.
  • NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) The nation’s first and largest grassroots-based civil rights organization.
EDUCATE

Cheers,
Bibi
